Honoring the History That Built the Valley

Vail Legacy Weekend is a powerful winter tradition that honors the rich history of Vail and the legendary 10th Mountain Division, whose soldiers helped shape modern alpine skiing in Colorado. Held February 28 – March 1, 2026, this free, community-wide celebration takes place both on Vail Mountain and throughout Vail Village.

The weekend features iconic events including the 10th Mountain Parade, a dramatic Black Hawk helicopter landing, and the beloved Riva Ridge Ski Down, recreating the historic descent that helped put Vail on the map. Visitors and locals alike can enjoy ceremonies, storytelling, and mountain traditions that pay tribute to the courage, resilience, and adventurous spirit that define Vail.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, skier, or simply love mountain culture, Vail Legacy Weekend offers a meaningful and memorable way to connect with the roots of this extraordinary place.
